Lord Cobham’s Column was built as a gift for Lord Cobham by his wife Lady Cobham, at its height you can see Cobham himself dressed as a Roman Emperor.

The statue has been restored after lightning struck it in 1957, destroying the statue which was temporarily replaced with an urn.

If you want to follow the path towards Cobham’s Statue you must pay for entry to the National Trust Gardens, which you can do by visiting New Inn at the end of this trail when the gardens are open. To keep following the Parkland walk outside of National Trust Grounds, pass through the gate in front of you and walk through the field. From this point onwards the path may be muddy!
