You might have heard false claims that there was a plug in the bottom of this lake, and that a diver pulling it up made the water drain away! What is true is that when working on the lake in 1981 the team relining the bottom of the lake with butyl found many old copper rivets, evidence that the lake really was lined with copper when it was made to stop the water from draining.

The cascade of water flowing on the far northern side of the lake runs from the Eleven Acre Lake. Inside the structure is the remains of pump house mechanisms.
