As you follow the Roman Road, you can see a brick wall to your right. It’s called the Ha-Ha and is the brain-child of Charles Bridgeman one of Stowe’s first notable landscape designers. The Ha-Ha is designed to be invisible from inside the gardens of the house, and to keep the animals grazing in the estate out of the gardens, but without the ugliness of a fence. This Ha-Ha is probably one of the longest ever built.

As you follow the road you will reach a security gate. Stay to the left of the path to go through the pedestrian gate. You are now walking next to the Stowe School grounds.

Please do not enter the school grounds on the other side of the Ha-Ha.
