Buckingham favourite Gandertons is known as the oldest garage in England. William Ganderton started a business on the site in 1849 before cars were invented, making wheels as well as working as an agricultural engineer. The large iron wheel you can see outside was used to make wooden wheels.

By early 1900s the development of motor cars was well on its way, and the Ganderton family made the switch into servicing and repair of cars, as well opening Swan Cycles opposite the garage.

For a while, the shop also operated as a Lancia dealer, servicing Rowan Atkinson’s car regularly.
